In the framework of the Horizon 2020 project ANIMA (Aviation Noise Impact Management through Novel Approaches), MEP Merja KYLLÖNEN and the Airport Regions Conference are delighted to invite you to a breakfast meeting on the topic of aviation noise.
The breakfast meeting will take place on 6 March 2018, at the European Parliament inside the MEP’s Restaurant (Altiero Spinelli, Bloc G, Level 0), between 9AM and 11AM.
In 2014, over 2,5 million people were exposed to noise at 45 major European airports. As air traffic is growing, this number might increase by 15% until 2035 (European Aviation Environmental Report, 2016). Aviation noise impacts health and quality of life and thus generates community reaction, affecting the airports’ ability to grow and hinder subsequent economic growth.
Non-acoustical factors play a major role in noise annoyance management and therefore it is necessary to shed light on the topic, making it a priority in the policymakers’ agendas. This breakfast meeting will address both acoustical and non-acoustical perspectives and it will also discuss quality of life, land-use planning and management and noise mitigation procedures.
This meeting will bring together leading stakeholders from the European research community, the aviation sector and local communities in order to tackle aviation noise and to bring forward ways of reducing and mitigating it.
